My Aussie Guide is written by Duncan Ross, who has lived in North Queensland since 2023. It brings the same standard of honest, practical, firsthand-where-possible guidance to the whole of Australia: route detail in the order you drive it, honest timings and the seasonal gates that decide whether a trip is possible.

Beyond North Queensland, he's always loved travelling the country, and where personal experience hasn't reached, every recommendation on this site is backed by thorough research — so whether it's a hidden beach in the tropics or a hike in the Adelaide Hills, it's one you can trust.
How we research, and what we claim
In practice that means every route and state guide on this site lists the sources behind it: state road authorities for conditions and closures, national and state park agencies for access, fees and seasonal rules, and operators for prices. Where a figure changes season to season — fuel gaps, park closures, stinger season, whale windows — we say what it usually is and tell you to check the current status before you rely on it.
Anything safety-related that can change is written that way deliberately. A road condition from last dry season is not a guarantee for this one.

North Queensland is the one region we write about from living there, and a dedicated regional guide covers it in far more depth than we could here. This site points to it rather than duplicating a thinner version.
