How North Queensland fits a national trip
Townsville sits roughly midway up the Queensland coast, 1,350 km north of Brisbane and 350 km south of Cairns. It is the eastern anchor point for anyone heading inland on the Savannah Way, and the practical reef and island stop between the Whitsundays and the Daintree.
